Refactored function in themes.js to reduce function nesting to be less than 4. This was completed by creating smaller functions to increase readability.
Resolves #514

UI Manual Testing was done by clicking into settings and appearances. Then, revert was clicked to ensure proper console logs.
File not covered in test coverage (used UI manual testing instead).
